NOTE:
These steps should be performed by a professional mechanic or someone who is experienced with working on car electrical systems.
1. Prepare safety gear: Wear gloves and safety glasses to protect yourself while working. It is important to be cautious when working with electrical components.
2. Locate the sunroof motor: The sunroof motor is usually located in the headliner of the car, above the sunroof opening. Follow the sunroof wiring harness to find the motor.
3. Disconnect the power connector: Locate the power connector that supplies electricity to the sunroof motor. Carefully disconnect the connector by pressing the release tab and pulling it apart.
4. Apply power directly to motor: Use a voltmeter or a test light to determine the correct polarity of the power connector. Once the polarity is determined, connect a 12-volt power source (e.g., a car battery) directly to the sunroof motor. Reverse the polarity if the sunroof does not move in the desired direction.
5. Operate sunroof manually: Once the motor is powered, you can operate the sunroof manually. Use a long, thin object like a screwdriver or a piece of wire to gently push or pull the sunroof gears.
6. Reconnect power connector: Once you have reached the desired position, reconnect the power connector to the sunroof motor.
NOTE:
After overriding the sunroof, it may be necessary to reset the sunroof controller or reprogram the sunroof system to ensure proper functionality. It is recommended to have a professional mechanic perform this step.
