1. Gather the necessary materials. You will need a suitable scan tool capable of communicating with the airbag control unit. Additionally, you will need a 10 mm socket and a ratchet.
2. Ensure that the ignition is off and the key is removed. This will help to prevent any accidental deployment of the airbags.
3. Turn on the turn signals. This will help to discharge any residual voltage from the airbag control unit.
4. Locate the airbag control unit. The airbag control unit is usually located under the centre console.
5. Remove the airbag control unit. Use the 10 mm socket and ratchet to remove the bolts that secure the airbag control unit. Be careful not to damage the airbag control unit.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear of the airbag control unit.
7. Inspect the electrical connector for damage. Look for any signs of damage to the electrical connector. If you see any damage, you must replace the electrical connector before clearing the SRS fault code.
8. Reset the SRS fault code. Connect the scan tool to the vehicle and follow the on-screen instructions to reset the SRS fault code.
9. Reattach the electrical connector. Reattach the electrical connector to the airbag control unit.
10. Reattach the airbag control unit. Reattach the airbag control unit with the bolts you removed in step 5.
11. Turn the ignition on. The SRS light should come on and then turn off after a few seconds. This indicates that the SRS fault code has successfully been cleared.
