Instructions
1. Park your BMW 323i on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Apply the parking brake and chock the wheels.
3. Open the hood and disconnect the battery's negative terminal.
4. Remove the air filter housing.
5. Locate the starter motor on the driver's side of the engine, near the top.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the starter motor.
7. Remove the two bolts holding the starter motor to the engine.
8. Remove the starter motor from the vehicle.
9. Inspect the starter motor gasket and replace it if it is damaged.
10. Install the new starter motor in the vehicle.
11. Replace the bolts holding the starter motor to the engine.
12. Connect the electrical connector to the starter motor.
13. Reinstall the air filter housing.
14. Reconnect the battery's negative terminal.
15. Start the engine and test the starter motor.
Tips
* If the starter motor does not work properly, check the electrical connection and the starter motor's ground.
* If the starter motor is still not working, it may need to be replaced.
