Tools and Materials Needed:
- Replacement wing mirror glass
- Pry tool or flat-head screwdriver
- 10mm socket wrench or spanner
- New wing mirror cover (optional, in case of damage)
Step-by-Step Guide:
1. Remove the Wing Mirror Cover:
- Use a pry tool or flat-head screwdriver to gently pry open the wing mirror cover.
- Start from the bottom edge and work your way around the cover, taking care not to break any tabs or clips.
- Once all the clips are released, lift off the cover to expose the mirror assembly.
2. Disconnect the Electrical Connector (if applicable):
- If your Vectra has an electrically adjustable or heated wing mirror, there will be a wiring connector attached to the back of the mirror glass.
- Unplug the connector by pressing the release tab and gently pulling it apart.
3. Remove the Old Wing Mirror Glass:
- Locate the retaining screws or clips that hold the mirror glass in place.
- Use a 10mm socket wrench or spanner to loosen and remove the screws.
- Carefully take out the old mirror glass, handling it with care to avoid breaking.
4. Install the Replacement Mirror Glass:
- Position the new mirror glass onto the mirror assembly.
- Make sure it is seated correctly and then secure it with the retaining screws or clips.
- Tighten the screws or push the clips until the mirror glass is firmly in place.
5. Reconnect the Electrical Connector (if applicable):
- If you disconnected the electrical connector in Step 2, reconnect it now by simply plugging it back into its port.
6. Replace the Wing Mirror Cover:
- Align the wing mirror cover with the mirror assembly, ensuring that all the clips are lined up correctly.
- Press down on the cover until all the clips snap into place, ensuring a secure fit.
7. Test the Mirror Functionality:
- Adjust the mirror using the controls inside the vehicle (if applicable) to ensure it is functional and provides a clear view of the road behind.
Note:
- If you are replacing the entire wing mirror assembly (including the housing), the process is similar but may involve additional steps such as removing the door panel to access the mounting bolts. Consult the vehicle's service manual for detailed instructions specific to your Vectra model.
