How do you remove an alternator from a 1988 grand marqius?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Socket wrench set

- Ratchet

- Pliers

- Screwdriver

- Jack and jack stands

- Safety glasses

Instructions:

1.) Park the car on a level surface and apply the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.

2.) Raise the front of the car and support it on jack stands. Make sure the car is stable and will not fall.

3.) Locate the alternator. It is usually mounted on the front of the engine, near the top.

4.) Disconnect the battery. This is to prevent any electrical shocks while working on the alternator.

5.) Remove the serpentine belt. The serpentine belt is the long belt that wraps around the alternator, power steering pump, and other accessories. Use a ratchet to loosen the tensioner pulley and remove the belt.

6.) Remove the alternator bracket. The alternator is held in place by a bracket. Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts that hold the bracket in place and remove the bracket.

7.) Disconnect the electrical connections. There are two electrical connections on the alternator. Use a screwdriver to disconnect these connections.

8.) Remove the alternator. Lift the alternator straight up and out of the engine bay.

9.) Inspect the alternator. Look for any signs of damage or wear and tear. If the alternator is damaged, it will need to be replaced.

10.) Reinstall the alternator. If the alternator is still good, reinstall it by following the steps in reverse order.

11.) Reconnect the electrical connections and serpentine belt.

12.) Lower the car off the jack stands.

13.) Reinstall the battery.
