How do you bleed the brakes on a 2000 Chevy S-10 after installing new front pads?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Fluid Reservoir

- Brake fluid

- 10mm and 13mm wrench

- Clear Hose

- Bottle for collecting old brake fluid

Step 1: Preparing the Vehicle

- Park your Chevy S-10 on level ground and turn off the engine.

- Ensure that the parking brake is engaged.

- Open the hood and locate the brake fluid reservoir.

Step 2: Connecting the Hose

- Attach one end of a clear hose to the bleeder screw on the caliper of the front passenger tire.

- Place the other end of the hose into a transparent bottle.

Step 3: Open the Bleeder Screw

- Loosen the bleeder screw on the front passenger caliper with a 10mm wrench.

- Keep a close eye on the brake fluid level in the reservoir and ensure it doesn't go too low.

Step 4: Bleeding the Front Passenger Tire

- Ask an assistant to depress the brake pedal slowly and then hold it down.

- While the brake pedal is depressed, open the bleeder screw slightly to release any air trapped in the brake line.

- Repeat steps 4 and 5 until no more bubbles come out of the hose.

Step 5: Bleeding the Rear Passenger Tire

- Move on to the rear passenger tire.

- Follow steps 3 and 4 to bleed the brake line on the rear passenger side.

Step 6: Bleeding the Front Driver's Tire

- Proceed to bleed the brake line of the front driver's tire.

- Repeat steps 3 and 4 to ensure the brake line is free from air bubbles.

Step 7: Bleeding the Rear Driver's Tire

- Finally, bleed the rear driver's tire following steps 3 and 4.

Step 8: Replenish Brake Fluid

- Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir.

- If necessary, add brake fluid until it reaches the "Full" mark.

- Close the reservoir.

Step 9: Test the Brakes

- Start the engine and pump the brake pedal a few times.

- The brake pedal should feel firm and responsive.

Step 10: Verify for Leaks

- Inspect the brake lines and connections for any signs of leaks.

- Repair any leaks if necessary.

Remember to follow the sequence for bleeding the brakes as recommended for your vehicle (front passenger → rear passenger → front driver → rear driver). If you encounter any difficulties or have doubts, consult a professional mechanic for assistance.
