It is not necessary to remove the oil pan to change the timing chain cover. The timing chain cover is located on the front of the engine, while the oil pan is located on the bottom of the engine. To change the timing chain cover, you will need to remove the following components:
-Serpentine belt
-Water pump
-Thermostat housing
-Alternator
-Air conditioner compressor
-Power steering pump
-Crankshaft pulley
Once these components have been removed, you will be able to access the timing chain cover and remove it.
