1. Gather the necessary tools and materials, including:
- New transmission oil (check your owner's manual for the recommended type and quantity)
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Ratchet and socket set
- Oil filter wrench
- Rags
2. Prepare the vehicle:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
- Locate the transmission oil drain plug and oil filter.
3. Drain the old transmission oil:
- Place the oil drain pan under the transmission oil drain plug.
- Use the ratchet and socket set to loosen and remove the drain plug.
- Allow the old oil to drain completely.
4. Replace the transmission oil drain plug:
- Once the old oil has drained, replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.
5. Locate the transmission oil filter:
- The transmission oil filter is usually located near the transmission oil drain plug.
6. Remove the transmission oil filter:
- Use the oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter.
- Be careful not to spill any oil.
7. Install the new transmission oil filter:
- Apply a thin coat of new transmission oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
- Screw on the new oil filter until it is snug. Do not over-tighten.
8. Add new transmission oil:
- Use the funnel to add new transmission oil to the vehicle.
- Add the amount of oil specified in your owner's manual.
9. Check the transmission oil level:
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- Turn off the engine and check the transmission oil level using the dipstick.
- The oil level should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
10. Test drive the vehicle:
- Take the vehicle for a short test drive.
- Check for any leaks or unusual noises.
11. Dispose of the old oil and filter:
-Dispose of the old oil and filter properly at a recycling center or auto parts store.
