How do you change rear brakes on a 2005 scion xb?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Lug wrench

- Jack and jack stands

- Socket set

-Brake cleaner

-New brake pads

-New brake rotors (if needed)

-C-clamp

Instructions:

1. Park your Scion xB on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Chock the front wheels to prevent the car from rolling.

3. Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels.

4. Jack up the rear of the car and place the jack stands under the frame. Lower the car until its weight is supported by the jack stands.

5. Fully remove the lug nuts and take off the rear wheels.

6. Inspect the brake rotors and brake calipers. If the brake rotors are worn or damaged, replace them with new ones.

7. Inspect the brake pads. If the brake pads are worn down to less than 1/4 inch thick, replace them with new ones.

8. Remove the brake calipers and the old brake pads.

9. Install the new brake pads into the brake calipers.

10. Reinstall the brake calipers and the rear wheels.

11. Tighten the lug nuts but do not over-tighten them.

12. Lower the car and remove the jack stands.

Remember, brake work can be dangerous if not performed correctly. If you are not comfortable performing this task, it is best to take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic.
