* 10mm wrench
* 14mm wrench
* 17mm wrench
* Flat-head screwdriver
* New shock absorber
* Spring compressor
Instructions:
1. Make sure your 4Runner is parked on a level surface and that the parking brake is on.
2. Locate the front shock absorbers. They are located behind the front wheels, near the top of the wheel wells.
3. Use a 10mm wrench to remove the two bolts that hold the shock absorber to the upper control arm.
4. Use a 14mm wrench to remove the bolt that holds the shock absorber to the lower control arm.
5. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the brake line away from the shock absorber.
6. Use a 17mm wrench to remove the nut that holds the shock absorber to the frame.
7. Remove the shock absorber from the vehicle.
8. Compress the new shock absorber using a spring compressor.
9. Reverse steps 1-7 to install the new shock absorber.
Tips:
* You can use a floor jack to support the front of your 4Runner while you remove and install the shock absorbers.
* Make sure that you have the right size tools for the job.
* If you are not comfortable working on your car, you should have a mechanic do the job.
