1. Check the fuse. The first thing you should do is check the fuse that controls the windshield wipers. If the fuse is blown, you will need to replace it. To check the fuse, look for the fuse box in the vehicle. It is usually located under the hood or behind the dashboard. Once you have found the fuse box, locate the fuse for the wipers and check it to see if it is blown. If it is, simply remove it and replace it with a new fuse of the same amperage.
2. Check the wiper motor. If the fuse is not blown, the next thing you should check is the wiper motor. The wiper motor is located in the engine bay, usually close to the windshield. Check to see if the wiper motor is getting power. If it is, you may need to replace the wiper motor.
3. Check the linkage. The linkage is the part of the windshield wiper system that connects the wiper motor to the wiper arms. If the linkage is broken or disconnected, the wipers will not work properly. To check the linkage, look for it under the hood near the windshield. If you see any damage or disconnection, you will need to replace or reconnect the linkage.
4. Check the wiper arms and blades. The wiper arms are the metal arms that hold the wiper blades. The wiper blades are the rubber strips that actually wipe the windshield. If the wiper arms or blades are damaged, the wipers will not work properly. To check the wiper arms and blades, simply remove them from the vehicle and inspect them for cracks, tears, or other damage. If you find any damage, you will need to replace the wiper arms or blades.
If you have tried all of these things and the wipers still do not work, you may need to take the vehicle to a mechanic for further diagnosis.
