1. Gather your materials. You will need:
* A new ignition key for a 1986 Corvette
* A screwdriver
* A hammer
* A punch
* A paper clip
2. Remove the old ignition key. Use the screwdriver to pry the ignition key cover off of the steering column. Then, use the hammer and punch to knock the old ignition key out of the ignition cylinder.
3. Install the new ignition key. Insert the new ignition key into the ignition cylinder and turn it to the "On" position. Then, use the paper clip to press the release button on the ignition cylinder and remove the key.
4. Reinstall the ignition key cover. Snap the ignition key cover back onto the steering column.
Tips:
* If you are having trouble removing the old ignition key, you can try spraying some penetrating oil into the ignition cylinder.
* Be careful not to damage the ignition cylinder when you are hammering out the old ignition key.
* Make sure that the new ignition key is fully inserted into the ignition cylinder before you turn it to the "On" position.
