2. Remove the distributor cap. The distributor cap is held in place by two screws. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws and then lift the cap off of the distributor.
3. Remove the rotor. The rotor is located inside the distributor cap. It is held in place by a single screw. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screw and then lift the rotor out of the distributor.
4. Remove the distributor hold-down bolt. The distributor hold-down bolt is located at the base of the distributor. Use a wrench to loosen the bolt and then remove it.
5. Pull the distributor out of the engine. The distributor is held in place by a gasket. Gently pull the distributor up and out of the engine, being careful not to damage the gasket.
6. Inspect the distributor. Look for any signs of damage, such as cracks or wear. If you see any damage, replace the distributor.
7. Install the new distributor. Place the new distributor in the engine and push it down until it seats against the gasket. Insert the distributor hold-down bolt and tighten it until it is snug.
8. Install the rotor. Place the rotor in the distributor and insert the screw. Tighten the screw until it is snug.
9. Install the distributor cap. Place the distributor cap on the distributor and insert the two screws. Tighten the screws until they are snug.
10. Reconnect the battery.
