HOW TO REPLACE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY ON 2009 BUICK LUCERNE?

Tools You Will Need:

- Flat head screwdriver

- Phillips head screwdriver

- Metric socket set (10mm, 12mm, and 14mm)

- Ratchet

- Extension

- New headlamp assembly

Instructions:

1. Park your Lucerne in a well-lit area and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down completely before beginning work.

2. Locate the headlight assemblies on the front of your Lucerne. The headlight assemblies are located behind the plastic covers on the front of the car.

3. Remove the plastic headlight covers. To remove the plastic headlight covers, use a flat head screwdriver to pry up on the tabs that hold the covers in place.

4. Detach the electrical connectors from the headlamp assemblies (2 connectors for HID or 1 for halogen). You will need to twist and pull the connector off the back of the light unit.

5. Remove the three 10mm bolts that hold the headlamp assembly in place. These bolts are located around the perimeter of the headlamp assembly.

6. Remove the headlamp assembly from the vehicle. Once the bolts are removed, you will be able to lift the headlamp assembly out of the vehicle.

7. Inspect the old headlamp assembly for damage. Look for any cracks, breaks, or other damage. If the old headlamp assembly is damaged, it will need to be replaced.

8. Install the new headlamp assembly. Place the new headlamp assembly in the vehicle and secure it with the three 10mm bolts.

9. Reconnect electrical connector(s) by aligning them over prongs and twisting them until they snap in place.

10. Reinstall the plastic headlight covers. Press the covers back into place until the tabs snap into position.

Test the new headlamp assembly to ensure that it is working properly. Turn on the headlights and check that both the low-beam and high-beam lights are working.
