This reset procedure requires two individuals performing the steps at the same time.
STEP 1: Turn the ignition key to the ON position, but do not start the vehicle.
STEP 2: The first individual must then:
- Press and hold the brake pedal while the second individual completes the remaining steps.
- Do not allow the brake pedal to release until the airbag light resets.
STEP 3: The second individual must then:
- Locate the diagnostic plug, which is underneath the dash, on the driver's side.
- It will be a white plug with a black cover.
- Once the diagnostic plug is found, turn the ignition OFF, and unplug the diagnostic plug.
STEP 4: Both individuals must then:
- Wait 10 seconds, then plug the diagnostic plug back in.
- Do not delay any longer than 10 seconds before performing this step.
STEP 5: Once the diagnostic plug is plugged in, turn the ignition back ON, and the airbag light should start blinking.
STEP 6: The second individual must then immediately:
- Press the brake pedal five times in rapid succession.
STEP 7: The first individual can now release the brake pedal.
STEP 8: Both individuals must then verify the airbag light is off.
STEP 9: If the airbag light is off, the reset is complete.
STEP 10: If the airbag light is still on, the reset must be repeated.
NOTE: If this light is on due to a current problem with the airbag, this light will NOT reset, and the vehicle will need to be serviced/repaired.
