Instructions:
1. Park your Ranger on level ground and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool down completely.
2. Raise your Ranger using a jack and jack stands. Make sure the vehicle is securely supported.
3. Crawl underneath your Ranger and locate the oil pan. It is a large, metal pan located beneath the engine.
4. Remove the oil pan. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts that secure the oil pan to the engine block. Be careful not to spill any oil.
5. Remove the oil pump drive shaft. It is a long, thin shaft that connects the oil pump to the engine's crankshaft. Use a screwdriver to pry the shaft out of the oil pump.
6. Remove the oil pump O-ring. It is a small, rubber ring that seals the oil pump to the engine block. Use a pliers to remove the O-ring.
7. Install the new oil pump O-ring. Apply a small amount of oil to the new O-ring and then place it in the oil pump's groove.
8. Install the new oil pump drive shaft. Slide the shaft into the oil pump and then secure it with the screwdriver.
9. Install the new oil pump. Place the oil pump on the engine block and then secure it with the bolts.
10. Install the new oil pan gasket. Apply a thin bead of silicone sealant to the surface of the oil pan gasket and then place it on the oil pan.
11. Reinstall the oil pan. Replace the bolts and tighten them securely.
12. Lower your Ranger off the jack stands.
13. Replace the oil filter.
14. Add new oil to the engine. Use the funnel to add oil to the engine until the oil level reaches the "Full" mark on the dipstick.
15. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks.
Tips:
- When removing the oil pan, be careful not to damage the oil pan gasket. If the gasket is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
- When installing the new oil pump, make sure that the oil pump drive shaft is properly seated in the oil pump.
- When adding new oil to the engine, be careful not to overfill the engine. Overfilling the engine can cause damage to the engine.
