Materials

Instructions:
1. Disconnect Battery:
Disconnect the negative terminal from the car battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical components.
2. Remove Trim:
Locate and remove any trim panels or covers that may be blocking access to the stock amplifier.
3. Locate Stock Amplifier:
In the 1988 Ford LTD, the stock amplifier is usually located behind the rear seat or in the trunk. It is typically mounted on a bracket and might have a cooling fan attached to it.
4. Disconnect Wiring:
Disconnect the wiring harnesses connected to the stock amplifier. Note the position and color of each wire for reconnection later.
5. Remove Amplifier:
Remove the screws or bolts holding the stock amplifier to the bracket. Carefully remove the amplifier from its mounting location.
6. Install New Amplifier (optional):
If you are installing a new amplifier, mount it securely to the bracket.
Connect the wiring harnesses to the new amplifier according to the instructions that came with it.
7. Reinstall Trim:
Replace any trim panels or covers that you removed and make sure everything is securely fastened.
8. Test System:
Reconnect the negative terminal to the car battery and turn on the radio. Ensure that the audio system is functioning properly with the new amplifier or without the old one.
