How do you get inside the door of your 1998 mercury mountaineer to fix handle lock if is shut and wont unlock so can remove panel?

1. Locate the emergency trunk release lever inside your vehicle. This is usually located beneath the driver's seat or near the driver's side footwell.

2. Pull the emergency trunk release lever to open the trunk.

3. Once the trunk is open, locate the access panel on the inside of the trunk lid. This panel is usually held in place by a few screws.

4. Remove the screws holding the access panel in place and remove the panel.

5. Once the access panel is removed, you will be able to reach the inside of the door latch mechanism.

6. Use a screwdriver or other tool to disengage the door latch mechanism and open the door.

7. Once the door is open, you can remove the door panel and fix the handle lock.
