1. Prepare your tools and materials. You will need a flat-head screwdriver, a Phillips-head screwdriver, a penetrating lubricant (WD-40 or similar), and possibly a heat gun or a hair dryer.
2. Locate the Air Filter Housing. The air filter housing is located on the top of the engine, near the front of the vehicle. It is usually made of black plastic and has a large rubber hose attached to it.
3. Remove the Screws. Use the flat-head screwdriver to loosen the screws holding the air filter housing in place. This may be difficult to do if the screws have become rusted or corroded. If this is the case, you may need to use a penetrating lubricant and/or a little bit of heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to help break them loose.
4. Remove the Cover and Clean Air Box. Once the screws have been loosened, remove the cover of the air filter housing. This will expose the air filter. Carefully lift out the air filter. Inspect it for dirt and debris. If the air filter is dirty, replace it with a new one. Clean inside of the air box before reinstalling the air filter and its cover.
5. Reinstall the screws and tighten them securely.
