2. Check the transmission. Make sure the transmission is in "Park" for automatic transmission or "Neutral" for manual transmission.
3. Try jiggling the key. While holding the key in the ignition, gently move it back and forth while applying light pressure. This may help dislodge any debris or foreign objects that could be blocking the key from turning.
4. Check for broken ignition parts. If the key won't turn at all, there could be broken parts inside the ignition cylinder or linkage. Look for any visible signs of damage and if necessary seek assistance from a mechanic.
5. Use a thin object. Sometimes, a tiny object may get stuck in the keyhole preventing the key from turning. Try inserting a thin object, such as a paper clip, deep into the keyhole and gently move it around to try to dislodge the stuck object.
6. Lubricate the keyhole. If the key feels like it's binding, try lubricating the keyhole with a graphite lubricant or a small amount of WD-40. Insert the key and turn it several times to spread the lubricant.
If none of these methods work, you may need to consult with a professional locksmith or mechanic to diagnose and fix the problem.
