Materials Needed:
1. New door handle
2. Torx wrench
3. Hex wrench
4. Flat-head screwdriver
5. Flashlight (optional)
Instructions:
Step 1: Remove the Door Panel:
1. Begin by opening your Wrangler’s door and removing the screws that hold the armrest in place.
2. Once the armrest is removed, pry the door panel away from the door using a flat-head screwdriver or a door panel removal tool.
3. Disconnect the window crank handle and/or power window switch from the door panel, if equipped.
4. Set aside the door panel.
Step 2: Remove the Old Exterior Door Handle:
1. Locate the two Torx screws that hold the exterior door handle in place.
2. Using the Torx wrench, remove these two screws.
3. Once the screws are removed, gently pull the exterior door handle to remove it from the door.
4. Disconnect any electrical connectors that might be attached to the door handle.
Step 3: Install the New Exterior Door Handle:
1. Align the new door handle with the holes on the door and reconnect the electrical connectors (if applicable).
2. Insert and tighten the two Torx screws to secure the new door handle.
3. Make sure the door handle is properly seated in place and functioning smoothly.
Step 4: Reattach the Door Panel:
1. Reattach the door panel by aligning it with the door frame.
2. Use the power window switch and/or window crank handle to ensure that it is functioning properly.
3. Replace the screws that you removed earlier to secure the door panel.
4. Close the door to test the functionality of the new door handle.
Congratulations, you have now replaced the exterior door handle on your Jeep Wrangler!
