How do you replace the headlight bulb on a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am SE?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Replacement headlight bulb (H1)

- Safety glasses

Instructions:

1. Park your vehicle in a safe and well-lit area. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down. Ensure the parking brake is engaged and the headlights are turned off.

2. Locate the headlight assembly. The headlight assembly is located in the front of your vehicle, behind the headlight lens.

3. Remove the headlight cover. The headlight cover is usually secured by a few retaining clips or screws. Use a flat-head screwdriver to carefully pry open the retaining clips or remove the screws.

4. Locate the headlight bulb. Once the headlight cover is removed, you will see the headlight bulb inside the assembly. It is usually secured by a retaining clip or a bayonet-type mount.

5. Remove the old headlight bulb. If your vehicle has a retaining clip, use a flat-head screwdriver to pry it open and release the bulb. If your vehicle has a bayonet-type mount, simply rotate the bulb counterclockwise to remove it.

6. Install the new headlight bulb. Align the new bulb with the socket and insert it into place. If your vehicle has a retaining clip, snap it back into place to secure the bulb. If your vehicle has a bayonet-type mount, simply rotate the bulb clockwise to lock it in place.

7. Reinstall the headlight cover. Replace the headlight cover and secure it with the retaining clips or screws that you removed earlier.

8. Test the new headlight bulb. Turn on the headlights and check that the new bulb is working properly.

Tips:

- Be careful not to touch the new headlight bulb with your bare hands, as the oils from your skin can shorten the life of the bulb.

- If you have difficulty removing the old headlight bulb or installing the new one, do not force it. You may need to consult an automotive repair manual or a qualified mechanic for assistance.
