How do you change the rotors on a 2003 Acura CL?

Tools Needed:

- New rotors

- Brake cleaner

- 17 mm wrench

- 15 mm wrench

- Flathead screwdriver

- Hammer

1. Loosen the lug nuts. Use the 17 mm wrench to loosen the five lug nuts on each wheel about a half-turn. Do not remove the lug nuts completely.

2. Raise the car. Place the car on a jack and raise it until the tires are off the ground.

3. Remove the lug nuts and wheel. Use the 17 mm wrench to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.

4. Remove the brake caliper. Use the 15 mm wrench to remove the two bolts holding the brake caliper in place. Be careful not to spill any brake fluid.

5. Slide the caliper off the rotor. Gently slide the brake caliper off the rotor and the hub it is attached to. Set caliper aside.

6. Remove the old rotor. Use a flathead screwdriver and a hammer to pry the old rotor off of the hub. Be careful not to damage the hub.

7. Clean the hub. Use brake cleaner to clean the hub and the mating surface.

8. Install the new rotor. Slide the new rotor onto the hub and make sure it is seated correctly.

9. Reinstall the brake caliper. Slide the caliper back over the rotor and insert the caliper bracket mounting bracket over one mounting pin first, then insert the second mounting pin and secure it with the 15 mm wrench.

10. Reinstall the wheel and lug nuts. Put the wheel back on and replace the lug nuts (hand tighten). Lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts with the 17 mm wrench using a star pattern, tightening each wheel 1/4 to 1/2 turn at a time until all lug nuts are snug.

11. Lower the car.
