- 3/8-inch drive ratchet
- Breaker bar
- 19 and 17mm sockets
- Pliers
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Mallet
- Replacement CV boot
- CV joint grease
- Disposable gloves
- Safety glasses
Instructions:
*1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.*
*2. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel that is closest to the CV boot that you are replacing.*
*3. Use the jack and jack stands to raise the vehicle so that the wheel is off the ground.*
*4. Completely remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.*
*5. Use the pliers and flat-head screwdriver to remove the cotter pin from the castle nut.*
*6. Remove the castle nut using a socket and ratchet.*
*7. Use a pry bar to pry the axle nut loose from the driveshaft.*
*8. Remove the axle nut and washer.
*9. Use a mallet to tap the driveshaft out of the CV joint.
*10. Remove the old CV boot by prying it off the driveshaft with the flat-head screwdriver.*
*11. Clean the driveshaft and the CV joint of any old grease.*
*12. Apply a generous amount of CV joint grease to the splines of the driveshaft and the inside of the new CV boot.*
*13. Slide the new CV boot onto the driveshaft.*
*14. Reinstall the castle nut, washer, and cotter pin.*
*15. Lower the vehicle and take off the jack stands. Tighten the lug nuts until they are snug.*
*16. Repeat steps 5-18 on the other wheel that is closest to the CV boot that you are replacing.*
