How do you adjust valves on 1986 ford bronco 2.9?

To adjust the valves on a 1986 Ford Bronco 2.9, you will need the following:

- 5/16" socket and ratchet

- Feeler gauge

- Small hammer

- Flathead screwdriver

- Towel

1. Start the engine and let it run until it reaches normal operating temperature.

2. Turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wires.

3. Remove the valve cover using a 5/16" socket and ratchet.

4. Locate the intake and exhaust valves for each cylinder. The intake valves are located on top, while the exhaust valves are located on the bottom.

5. Insert a feeler gauge between the valve stem and the rocker arm. The feeler gauge should have a thickness of 0.016" for the intake valves and 0.024" for the exhaust valves.

6. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry up on the rocker arm while turning the adjusting nut with a 5/16" socket and ratchet.

7. Adjust the valve lash until the feeler gauge slides in and out with a slight amount of resistance.

8. Repeat steps 5-7 for each valve until all of the valves are adjusted to the correct lash.

9. Replace the valve cover and spark plug wires.

10. Start the engine and check the idle. The idle should be smooth and consistent.
