Before you start:
- Make sure the car is in park.
- Turn off the engine.
1. Engage the parking brake.
- Press and hold the parking brake button.
2. Start the engine.
- Press and hold the start/stop button without pressing the brake pedal.
- The engine should start and the parking brake fault message should appear.
3. Release the parking brake.
- Release the parking brake button.
- The parking brake fault message should go away.
4. Turn off the engine.
- Press and hold the start/stop button.
5. Test the parking brake.
- Put the car in gear.
- Release the parking brake button.
- The car should not roll.
If the parking brake fault message still appears, you will need to take your car to a mechanic to have it diagnosed.
