How do you replace neutral safety switch 98 Saturn SC2?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Flathead screwdriver

- Phillips head screwdriver

- 10mm socket wrench

- 1/4 inch socket wrench

- Extension for socket wrench

- Rag

- Safety glasses

Instructions:

1. Engage the parking break and turn off the ignition.

2. Open the hood and locate the neutral safety switch. It is typically a black or grey cylinder attached to the transmission.

3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.

4. Use the 10mm socket wrench to loosen the bolts holding the switch in place.

5. Remove the bolts and lift the switch out of its mounting bracket.

6. Clean the mounting bracket with a rag.

7. Place the new switch into the mounting bracket and secure it with the bolts.

8. Tighten the bolts with the 10mm socket wrench.

9. Reconnect the electrical connector to the switch.

10. Close the hood and start the engine.

11. Verify that the car will only start when in the "Park" or "Neutral" position.

Tips:

- If the new switch is not an exact match for the original, you may need to make some modifications to the bracket or the electrical connector.

- It is important to clean the mounting bracket before installing the new switch to ensure a good electrical connection.

- Make sure that the bolts are tightened securely to prevent the switch from coming loose.
