• Park your vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
• Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels, but do not remove them completely.
• Chock the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
• Raise the rear of the vehicle with a jack and secure it on jack stands.
• Remove the lug nuts and take off the rear wheels.
• Locate the brake drum dust cap on the rear brake assembly.
• Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off the dust cap.
• Remove the cotter pin that holds the castellated nut in place.
• Use a socket wrench to loosen and remove the castellated nut.
• Pull the brake drum straight off of the axle flange.
• Inspect the brake shoes and linings for wear or damage.
• If necessary, replace the brake shoes or linings.
• Reassemble the brake drum in the reverse order of disassembly.
• Torque the castellated nut to the manufacturer's specifications.
• Install the cotter pin.
• Replace the dust cap.
• Reinstall the rear wheels and lug nuts.
• Lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
