Cleaning the EGR Valve on a Honda Accord 2000 V6 2 Dr

1. Locate the EGR valve. It is located on the back of the engine, near the top. It is a round, black valve with two vacuum lines connected to it.

2. Disconnect the vacuum lines. Use a pair of pliers to squeeze the release tabs on the vacuum lines and pull them off of the valve.

3. Remove the two bolts that hold the EGR valve in place. Use a 10mm socket wrench to loosen the bolts.

4. Lift the EGR valve off of the engine. Be careful not to drop the gasket that is between the valve and the engine.

5. Inspect the EGR valve. Look for any signs of damage or carbon buildup. If the valve is damaged, it will need to be replaced.

6. Clean the EGR valve. Use a carburetor cleaner to spray the inside of the valve. Use a toothbrush to scrub away any carbon buildup.

7. Reinstall the EGR valve. Place the new gasket on the engine. Then, put the EGR valve back in place and tighten the two bolts.

8. Reconnect the vacuum lines. Push the vacuum lines back onto the valve until they click into place.
