1. Park your car on a level surface. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
2. Locate the oil drain plug. The drain plug is located on the bottom of the oil pan, near the front of the engine.
3. Prepare a drain pan to catch the oil. Place a large drain pan under the oil drain plug. Make sure the pan is large enough to catch all of the oil that will drain out.
4. Loosen the oil drain plug. Use a wrench to loosen the oil drain plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil pan.
5. Allow the oil to drain. Allow all of the oil to drain out of the oil pan. This may take a few minutes.
6. Replace the oil drain plug. Once all of the oil has drained out, replace the oil drain plug. Tighten the oil drain plug until it is snug.
7. Check the oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level in the engine. Add oil if necessary to bring the oil level up to the "Full" mark on the dipstick.
