1. Gather the tools and materials you'll need:
- Replacement gas hood supports
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Wrench
- 5mm Allen key
- Safety glasses
2. Open the hood of the Lexus.
3. Locate the gas hood supports.
They are located on either side of the hood, just behind the radiator support.
4. Use a screwdriver to pry up one end of the old gas hood support.
The end of the support should pop out of its socket. Be careful not to damage the paint on your car.
5. Disconnect the old gas hood support from the hood of the Lexus.
There is a 5mm Allen bolt that holds the support in place.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the other gas hood support.
7. Position the new gas hood supports in their sockets.
They should snap in easily.
8. Connect the new gas hood support to the hood of the Lexus
with the 5mm Allen bolt.
9. Test the gas hood supports to ensure that they are working properly.
They should hold the hood up without any effort and lower it slowly and smoothly when you release it.
10. Close the hood of the Lexus.
