- 1/4-inch ratchet set
- Small, flat-blade screwdriver
- Needle nose pliers
- 5/8-inch spark plug wrench
- Distributor cap wrench
- Timing light
Procedure:
1. Disconnect battery.
2. Remove distributor cap.
3. Remove the spark plug wires from the distributor cap.
4. Loosen the distributor hold-down clamp bolt(s) with a ratchet and socket set.
5. Pull the distributor out of the engine.
6. Inspect distributor for defects, wear or damage.
7. Compare new distributor with old one to ensure proper alignment and fit.
8. Insert the new distributor into the engine, making sure the rotor is pointing to the number one cylinder.
9. Tighten the distributor hold-down clamp bolts.
10. Reconnect the spark plug wires to the distributor cap.
11. Replace the distributor cap.
12. Reconnect the battery.
13. Use a timing light to check the ignition timing.
