The valves are located on the cylinder heads. There are four valves per cylinder, two intake valves, and two exhaust valves.
Step 2: Remove the valve covers.
The valve covers are held in place by two nuts and a gasket. Remove the nuts and lift off the valve covers.
Step 3: Locate the valve adjuster.
The valve adjuster is a screw located at the top of each valve stem. The valve adjuster is used to adjust the clearance between the valve stem and the rocker arm.
Step 4: Adjust the valve clearance.
The valve clearance should be between 0.004 and 0.006 of an inch. Use a feeler gauge to measure the valve clearance. If the valve clearance is too tight or too loose, use the valve adjuster to adjust it to the correct specification.
Step 5: Reinstall the valve covers.
Replace the gaskets and valve covers. Tighten the nuts until they are snug.
Step 6: Start the engine and check for leaks.
Run the engine for a few minutes and check for leaks. If there are any leaks, tighten the valve cover nuts or replace the gaskets.
