- Timing belt kit (includes timing belt, tensioner pulley, and idler pulley)
- Water pump
- Thermostat
- Coolant
- Oil filter
- Oil (if desired)
Special Tools Required:
- Timing belt tension gauge
- Torque wrench
- Socket wrench set
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Remove the serpentine belt.
4. Remove the timing belt cover.
5. Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt and rotate the tensioner pulley counterclockwise to release the tension on the timing belt.
6. Remove the timing belt.
7. Inspect the timing belt tensioner pulley and idler pulley for wear and damage. Replace if necessary.
8. Install the new timing belt.
- Start by aligning the timing marks on the crankshaft sprocket and camshaft sprockets.
- Install the timing belt around the sprockets, making sure that the teeth of the belt are engaged properly.
- Rotate the crankshaft sprocket clockwise two complete revolutions to seat the timing belt.
9. Install the new water pump.
10. Install the new thermostat.
11. Fill the cooling system with coolant.
12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to check for leaks.
13. Reinstall the serpentine belt, timing belt cover, and engine cover.
