How do you remove the shifter knob from a Nissan Sentra?

To Remove the Shifter Knob from a Nissan Sentra 2013:

1. Disconnect Battery (Optional): Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety during the process.

2. Remove Gear Cover: Look under the center console where the shifter is, on the driver side, you should see a plastic tab, press down on this tab and use a flat-head screwdriver to pry it open. Once it comes loose, take it off and place it to the side.

3. Remove Surrounding Trim: Grab the shifter boot collar (this is the plastic piece around the shifter) and with moderate force pry it upwards until it unhooks. Be careful not to scratch or break it.

4. Remove Shifter Knob: Press the shifter knob button, and while pressing, pull the shifter knob upward and it will come out.

5. Check and Replace: Inspect the old knob and spring. Replace if necessary.

6. Reinstall: Insert the new knob and spring if needed, then reattach everything in the reverse order you removed them.

7. Test: Gently shake or tug the knob and collar to make sure they are properly attached.

8. Reconnect Battery (if you disconnected it): Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
