Materials:
- Replacement bolt (same size as the stripped one)
- Wrench or socket set
- Penetrating oil (such as WD-40)
- Wire brush
- Safety glasses
Procedure:
1. Park your car in a safe location and engage the parking brake.
2. Locate the stripped bolt on the windshield wiper arm. It's usually at the base of the arm where it connects to the wiper motor.
3. Apply penetrating oil to the stripped bolt and let it sit for several minutes. This will help loosen any rust or corrosion that may be preventing the bolt from being removed.
4. Use the wrench or socket set to try to loosen the bolt. Turn it counterclockwise to loosen it.
5. If the bolt is still difficult to remove, try using the wire brush to clean off any dirt or corrosion from around the bolt and threads. Then try again to loosen the bolt.
6. Once the bolt is loose, remove it completely.
7. Insert the new bolt into the hole and tighten it until it is snug.
8. Reconnect the windshield wiper arm to the wiper motor.
9. Test the windshield wipers to make sure they are working properly.
Note: If the stripped bolt is difficult to remove, or if you feel unsure about replacing the bolt yourself, it is recommended that you take your car to a professional mechanic for assistance.
