To use a slim jim, insert the tool between the weatherstripping and the window glass near the door lock. Move the tool around until you can feel the lock mechanism. 2. Use a Coat Hanger:
If you don't have a slim jim, you can also use a wire coat hanger to unlock the door. Straighten the coat hanger as much as possible and create a small hook at one end. Insert the hooked end of the coat hanger through the gap between the weatherstripping and the window glass, and use it to manipulate the lock mechanism. This method may require some patience and dexterity.
3. Use a Wedge and Rod:
Another option is to use a wedge and a rod to unlock the door. You will need a thin wedge-shaped object, such as a plastic pry bar or a putty knife, and a long, thin rod, such as a metal coat hanger or a piece of wire. Insert the wedge between the weatherstripping and the window glass at the top of the door frame. Then, use the rod to press down on the door lock button while simultaneously prying the weatherstripping away from the door frame. This method may require some practice to get it right.
4. Call a Locksmith:
If you are unable to unlock the door yourself, you can contact a professional locksmith to assist you. Locksmiths have the necessary tools and expertise to open locked doors without causing any damage to the vehicle.
5. Use the Trunk Key:
Some 1992 Mazda Proteges have a trunk lock that is separate from the door locks. If this is the case with your vehicle, you may be able to open the trunk using your key and then access the inside of the car through the trunk.
