How do you replace third brake light in 2006 Hyundai Sonata?

Tools and Materials:

- Replacement third brake light

- Phillips head screwdriver

- Flat head screwdriver

- Putty knife

- Socket wrench

- 10 mm socket

- Flashlight

Instructions:

1. Park your car in a safe location and turn off the engine. Allow the vehicle to cool down if the car has been running.

2. Open the trunk of your car.

3. Locate the third brake light assembly. It is usually located at the top of the rear windshield, just below the spoiler.

4. Use a flat head screwdriver and a putty knife to carefully pry the lens cover off the brake light assembly. Insert the flat-head screwdriver into the gap at the edge of the lens cover, and use the putty knife to pry the cover off. Be careful not to damage the lens cover or the surrounding paint.

5. Remove the screws holding the brake light assembly in place using the Phillips head screwdriver. There will be two screws located at the bottom of the assembly. Remove these screws and set them aside.

6. Carefully remove the brake light assembly from the vehicle. Be careful not to drop the assembly or damage the wiring.

7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake light assembly using your socket wrench. Remove the 10 mm bolt holding the connector in place, and then disconnect the connector by pulling it apart.

8. Install the new third brake light assembly in reverse order of removal. Connect the electrical connector, install the screws, and snap the lens cover back into place.

9. Test the new brake light assembly to make sure it is working properly. Turn on the ignition and press the brake pedal. The third brake light should illuminate.
