1. Connect the OBD2 scanner to the diagnostic port under the dash on the driver's side.
2. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position, but do not start the engine.
3. Wait for the scanner to establish a connection with the vehicle's computer.
4. Once the connection is established, select the "Read Codes" option on the scanner.
5. The scanner will then display any trouble codes that are stored in the computer.
6. Select the "Erase Codes" option on the scanner.
7. The scanner will then erase the trouble codes from the computer.
8. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.
9. Disconnect the OBD2 scanner.
10. Start the engine and check to see if the check engine light is still illuminated. If it is not, then the reset was successful.
