1. Gather the following materials and tools:
- OEM ATF-Matic-D fluid.
- New transmission filter.
- Transmission pan gasket.
- 24 mm socket wrench.
- Wrench.
- Oil filter wrench.
- Oil drain pan.
- Funnel.
2. Warm up the engine and turn it off.
* This will help the transmission fluid to flow more easily.
3. Locate the transmission pan.
* It is usually located under the vehicle, near the front of the transmission.
4. Place the oil drain pan under the transmission pan.
* Make sure the pan is large enough to catch all of the fluid that will drain from the transmission.
5. Remove the transmission pan bolts.
* Use the 24 mm socket wrench to loosen and remove the transmission pan bolts.
6. Remove transmission fluid pan gasket.
* Once the bolts are removed, remove the pan from the transmission.
* Discard the old gasket.
7. Remove the transmission filter.
* The filter is located in the transmission pan.
* Use the wrench to loosen and remove the filter.
* Discard the old filter.
8. Clean the transmission pan.
* Use a clean cloth to wipe the inside of the transmission pan clean.
* Be sure to remove any old gasket material.
9. Install a new transmission filter.
* Place the new filter into the transmission pan.
* Hand-tighten the filter until it is snug.
10. Reinstall transmission fluid pan gasket.
- Make sure the new gasket is properly seated inside the transmission oil pan.
11. Reinstall the transmission pan.
* Place the transmission pan back onto the transmission.
* Make sure the gasket is properly seated.
* Reinstall the transmission pan bolts.
12. Tighten the transmission pan bolts.
* Use the 24 mm socket wrench to tighten the transmission pan bolts.
* Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
13. Add new transmission fluid.
* Use the funnel to add new transmission fluid to the transmission.
* Add the amount of fluid specified in the owner's manual.
14. Check the transmission fluid level.
* Use the transmission dipstick to check the transmission fluid level.
* The fluid level should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
15. Reinstall the transmission dipstick and restart the engine.
* Let the engine run for a few minutes.
* Shift the transmission through all of the gears, pausing for a few seconds in each gear.
16. Recheck the transmission fluid level and add more fluid as needed.
* The fluid level should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
