- 4 quarts of Honda MTF (either genuine Honda or a compatible aftermarket fluid)
- A 17mm wrench
- A funnel
- A drain pan
- Rags
- A new transmission drain plug gasket (optional, but recommended)
2. Prepare the car.
- Park the car on a level surface.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
- Engage the parking brake.
- If possible, raise the front of the car using ramps or a jack and jack stands to make it easier to access the transmission drain plug.
3. Locate the transmission drain plug.
- The transmission drain plug is located on the bottom of the transmission pan. It is a 17mm bolt.
4. Drain the old transmission oil.
- Place the drain pan under the transmission drain plug.
- Use the 17mm wrench to loosen the transmission drain plug.
- Allow the old transmission oil to drain completely.
5. Replace the transmission drain plug.
- Replace the transmission drain plug.
- Tighten the transmission drain plug until it is snug. Do not over-tighten the transmission drain plug.
6. Add new transmission oil.
- Remove the filler plug from the top of the transmission. It is located next to the dipstick tube.
- Use the funnel to add new transmission oil to the transmission.
- Add 3.2 quarts of transmission fluid.
- Check the transmission fluid level using the dipstick. The transmission fluid level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
7. Test drive the car.
- Start the car and allow it to run for a few minutes.
- Shift through all of the gears.
- Listen for any unusual noises or vibrations.
- Check for any leaks.
