How do you remove rotors on a 2002 Mazda miata?

Tools and Supplies Needed:

- Jack and jack stands

- Lug wrench

- Flathead screwdriver

- Torx bit

- Hammer

Instructions:

1. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Jack up the front or rear of your vehicle and support it with jack stands. Make sure the car is securely supported before you begin working.

3. Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.

4. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry up the dust cap on the center of the rotor.

5. Use a Torx bit to remove the two bolts holding the caliper in place.

6. Gently pry the caliper off of the rotor. Be careful not to damage the brake lines.

7. Remove the old rotor by pulling it straight off of the hub. If it is stuck, you can use a hammer to gently tap it loose.

8. Clean the hub and the new rotor. Remove any dirt or debris that could interfere with the rotor's performance.

9. Install the new rotor by pushing it straight onto the hub. Make sure it is seated properly before moving on.

10. Reattach the caliper and the two bolts. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.

11. Install the dust cap on the center of the rotor.

12. Replace the wheel and lug nuts. Tighten the lug nuts until they are snug.

13. Lower the vehicle from the jack stands.

Tips:

* Be careful not to drop the rotor or the caliper. These parts can be heavy and could cause injury if dropped.

* If the rotor is stuck, you can use a penetrating oil to loosen it up. Spray the oil around the hub and rotor, and let it sit for a few minutes before trying to remove the rotor.

* Check the condition of the brake pads while you are replacing the rotors. If they are worn down, you should replace them at the same time.
