Tools Required:
– Oil drain pan
– Ratchet
– Extension
– Deep well sockets (10 mm, 15 mm, 18 mm)
– Oil filter wrench
– Flat head screwdriver
– Pry bar
– Scraper
– RTV sealant
– New oil pan gasket
– New oil filter
– New oil (5W-30)
Instructions:
1. Park the truck on a level surface and allow the engine to cool down completely.
2. Crawl underneath the truck and locate the oil pan.
3. Place the oil drain pan under the oil pan.
4. Unscrew the oil drain plug using a 17 mm wrench and allow the oil to drain into the pan.
5. Once the oil has drained, replace the oil drain plug.
6. Remove the oil filter using an oil filter wrench.
7. Clean the oil filter mounting surface on the engine block.
8. Apply a thin coat of RTV sealant to the new oil pan gasket.
9. Position the new oil pan gasket on the oil pan and press it into place.
10. Install the oil pan bolts and tighten them evenly in a crisscross pattern.
11. Reinstall the oil filter.
12. Add new oil to the engine through the oil filler cap. The 1990 Ford F-150 pickup uses 5W-30 oil. Refer to your owner’s manual for the specific oil capacity for your truck.
13. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
14. Check for any leaks from the oil pan or oil filter.
15. If there are no leaks, lower the truck and clean up any spilled oil.
Tips:
– Make sure that the new oil pan gasket is properly seated before you install the oil pan bolts.
– Tighten the oil pan bolts evenly and in a crisscross pattern to avoid war
