- A 10mm wrench
- A 12mm wrench
- A flat-head screwdriver
- A pair of pliers
Step 1: Locate the clutch cable adjustment bolt
The clutch cable adjustment bolt is located on the side of the transmission, near the top of the engine. It is a 10mm bolt with a lock nut.
Step 2: Loosen the lock nut
Use the 12mm wrench to loosen the lock nut on the clutch cable adjustment bolt.
Step 3: Turn the adjustment bolt
Use the 10mm wrench to turn the adjustment bolt clockwise until the clutch pedal has about 1 inch of free play.
Step 4: Tighten the lock nut
Use the 12mm wrench to tighten the lock nut on the clutch cable adjustment bolt.
Step 5: Test the clutch pedal
Press the clutch pedal down and make sure that it has about 1 inch of free play. If it does not, repeat steps 2-4.
Step 6: Test drive the vehicle
Take the vehicle for a test drive to make sure that the clutch is working properly. If the clutch is slipping or grabbing, you may need to adjust the clutch cable again.
Tips:
- If you are not comfortable working on your own vehicle, you can take it to a qualified mechanic to have the clutch adjusted.
- Be careful not to overtighten the clutch cable adjustment bolt, as this could damage the clutch.
- If you are having difficulty adjusting the clutch, you may need to replace the clutch cable or the clutch itself.
