1. Gather the necessary tools.
You need the following tools to adjust the clutch:
- Flat-blade screwdriver
-Phillips-head screwdriver
-8 mm socket wrench and ratchet
-12 mm socket wrench and ratchet
-14 mm socket wrench and ratchet
-Pliers
-Grease
-Wheel chocks
-Jack and jack stands
2. Prepare the vehicle.
Park your Nissan truck on a level surface and set the parking brake. If you have rear-wheel drive, place blocks or chocks behind the front wheels.
Use the chocks to prevent the vehicle from moving.
3. Locate the adjustment screws.
The adjustment screws are located on the transmission housing. There will be two or three screws, depending on the model of Nissan truck you have.
4. Loosen the locknuts.
The locknuts are located at the top of the adjustment screws. Use an 8mm socket to loosen the locknuts, but don't remove them entirely.
5. Adjust the adjustment screws.
Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to turn the adjustment screws clockwise until they are snug. Do not overtighten the adjustment screws, as this can damage the transmission.
6. Tighten the locknuts.
Use an 8mm socket wrench to tighten the locknuts until they are snug.
7. Test the clutch.
Start the engine and let it idle. Put the transmission in first gear and slowly release the clutch. If the clutch engages too early, you will need to turn the adjustment screws counterclockwise until the clutch engages at the correct point. If the clutch engages too late, you will need to turn the adjustment screws clockwise until the clutch engages at the correct point.
8. Road test the vehicle.
Drive the Nissan truck around the block to test the clutch adjustment. Make sure the clutch engages smoothly and there is no slipping. If the clutch is not working properly, you may need to have it adjusted by a professional mechanic.
