How do you change spark plugs on a 2005 Honda CR-V?

Tools and materials:

- New spark plugs (NGK ZFR5F-11 recommended)

- Spark plug wrench

- Ratchet

- Socket extension

- Torque wrench

- Wire brush

Instructions:

1. Remove the engine cover.

* There are two 10mm bolts on the front of the cover, and two 8mm bolts on the back.

* Remove these bolts and lift the cover off.

2. Remove the spark plug wires.

* Using the spark plug wrench, loosen the spark wire plug boots on each of the four spark plugs.

* Pull the boots up and off of the spark plugs.

* Be careful not to drop any of the nuts into the engine cylinders.

3. Clean the spark plug area.

* Use a wire brush to clean the area around each of the spark plugs. This will help ensure that no dirt or debris falls into the cylinders when the spark plugs are removed.

4. Remove the spark plugs.

* Using the spark plug wrench, loosen and remove the four spark plugs.

5. Install the new spark plugs.

* Thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand until they are snug. Do not over-tighten the spark plugs.

* Use the spark plug wrench to tighten the spark plugs to 15 ft-lbs.

6. Replace the spark plug wires.

* Replace the spark wires by pushing them down until they snap into place.

7. Replace the engine cover.

* Replace the engine cover by inserting the four 10mm and 8mm bolts. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
