1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to warm up the transmission fluid.
3. Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes to allow the fluid to settle back into the pan.
4. Open the hood of the vehicle and locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually located near the back of the engine compartment, on the driver's side.
5. Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth.
6. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission fluid dipstick tube until it is fully seated.
7. Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level. The fluid should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
If the fluid level is low, you will need to add transmission fluid. Use only the type of transmission fluid specified in the vehicle's owner's manual.
When finished checking the transmission fluid level, replace the dipstick and close the hood of the vehicle.
