How do you change all engine mounts in a 2000 Nissan Altima?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Jack and jack stands

- Lug wrench

- Socket wrench set

- Extension set

- Oil drain pan

- New engine mounts

- Funnel

- Gasket sealant

- New oil (if necessary)

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.

2. Raise the front end of the vehicle with the jack and secure it with the jack stands. Make sure the vehicle is stable and will not roll or shift while you are working on it.

3. Remove the front wheels. Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts, then remove them and take off the wheels.

4. Drain the engine oil. Locate the oil drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan and remove it with the socket wrench. Allow all of the oil to drain into the oil drain pan.

5. Remove the serpentine belt. Locate the serpentine belt tensioner on the front of the engine and loosen the tension with the socket wrench. Remove the serpentine belt from the pulleys.

6. Disconnect the battery. Locate the battery terminals on the side of the engine. Loosen the negative terminal (black) first and remove it, then loosen the positive terminal (red) and remove it.

7. Remove the upper engine mount. Locate the upper engine mount on top of the engine near the firewall. Remove the nuts and bolts holding it in place, then lift it off of the engine.

8. Remove the front and rear engine mounts. Locate the front and rear engine mounts on either side of the engine. Remove the bolts holding them in place, then lower the engine slightly to remove them.

9. Install the new engine mounts. Place the new engine mounts in position, then install the bolts to hold them in place. Tighten the bolts until they are snug, then lower the engine back into place.

10. Reinstall the serpentine belt. Reinstall the serpentine belt around the pulleys, then tighten the tensioner.

11. Reconnect the battery. Reconnect the positive (red) terminal first, then the negative (black) terminal.

12. Refill the engine oil. Add new engine oil to the engine through the oil fill cap. Use the correct amount and type of oil specified in your vehicle's owner's manual.

13. Lower the vehicle. Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and replace the wheels.

14. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks or unusual noises. If everything seems to be working properly, you can take your car for a test drive.
