Instructions:
Step 1: Park the car on a level surface.
Pull the parking brake and turn the engine off.
Step 2: Loosen the lug nuts.
Don’t remove them yet.
Step 3: Raise the car with Jack stands.
Place the jack under the frame. Jack the car up until the tires are 1 inch off the ground.
Step 4: Remove the lug nuts and wheels.
Step 5: Locate the brake caliper.
Step 6: Remove the brake caliper bolts.
Step 7: Remove the old brake pads.
Once the caliper is off, you’ll see the old brake pads. They’re held in by two metal clips. Use a screwdriver to pry these clips off.
Step 8: Clean the caliper and rotor.
You can use a soft brush and brake cleaner for this.
Step 9: Apply grease to the caliper pins.
Step 10: Install the new brake pads.
Step 12: Reinstall the brake caliper.
Step 13: Reinstall the wheel.
Step 14: Tighten the lug nuts.
Don’t over-tighten them!
Step 15: Lower the car.
Step 16: Test the brakes.
Gently press the brake pedal a few times. The pedal should feel firm and responsive.
Step 17: Check the brake fluid level and top it off if necessary.
