Tools and Materials Needed:
- Replacement headlight bulb (check your vehicle's owner manual for the specific bulb type required)
- Flat-head screwdriver or trim removal tool
- Philips-head screwdriver
Instructions:
1. Open the Hood:
- Pull the hood release lever located inside the car, typically near the driver's left footwell.
- Go to the front of the vehicle and lift the hood.
- Prop the hood open securely using the support rod.
2. Locate the Headlight Assembly:
- Identify the headlight assembly on the side where the bulb needs to be replaced.
- It is typically covered by a plastic cover.
3. Remove the Headlight Cover:
- Use the flat-head screwdriver or trim removal tool to carefully pry open the plastic cover of the headlight assembly.
- Be gentle to avoid breaking the tabs or clips that hold the cover in place.
4. Disconnect the Electrical Connector:
- Once the cover is removed, you will see the headlight bulb and the electrical connector attached to it.
- Gently disconnect the electrical connector by pressing the release tab and pulling the connector straight out.
5. Remove the Old Bulb:
- Turn the bulb counterclockwise (lefty loosey) to release it from the housing.
- Be careful not to drop the bulb.
6. Install the New Bulb:
- Align the new bulb with the socket and turn it clockwise (righty tighty) until it is secure.
7. Reconnect the Electrical Connector:
- Reconnect the electrical connector by pushing it back into place until it clicks.
8. Replace the Headlight Cover:
- Align the plastic cover with the headlight assembly and press it down gently until it snaps back into place.
9. Close the Hood:
- Lower the hood back into place and release the support rod.
- Ensure that the hood is properly closed and latched securely.
10. Test the Headlight:
- Start the vehicle and turn on the headlights.
- Verify that the new headlight bulb is working properly.
